Dashboard Confessional debuted a thought-provoking new video for “Just What To Say” on Thursday (Nov. 15).
The video follows frontman Chris Carrabba on a journey through his home while he comes to grips with looming danger. It opens with the 43-year-old rocker strumming a guitar at the end of his bed as an old TV flashes on his bureau.
Carrabba sets down his guitar and sits in the living room as Against the Current‘s Chrissy Costanze’s vocals harmonize over his own. The shot moves forward to show his kitchen counter filled with scrunched letters and alcohol. He tries to write something again, but tosses it out and picks up a corded phone.
“And everyday, I take a white page,” he sings, “And try very hard to know just what to say/ Just what to say, just what to say/ I try very hard to know just what to say.”
The sky turns wild and the video turns red as the TV in the living room flashes, “End of the world.” He dials the phone again in a desperate attempt to get through but is met with a busy signal as the frame fades to black.
“Just What To Say,” which is about admitting and accepting flaws, appears on Crooked Shadows, the band’s first album in over eight years, released in February.
