Dan Auerbach is restless when it comes to making music. From producing for artists such as Lana Del Rey or Cage the Elephant to recording new music with The Black Keys, The Arcs, or for himself, Auerbach can’t seem to stay out of the studio for long. Today (Dec. 29), it has been revealed that the bluesy rocker will release his second solo album come spring.
He recorded the currently untitled album at Easy Eye Sound, his Nashville studio, along with guitar legend Duane Eddy, bassist Dave Roe (who backed Johnny Cash), and drummer Gene Christman and pianist Bobby Wood (both of whom played in Memphis’ American Sound Studio’s house band).
“These guys tell me they’re genuinely thrilled to be here, because we’re making records like they used to,” Auerbach told Rolling Stone.
The vocalist and guitarist also shared a handful of track titles with the magazine: “Waiting on a Song,” “Malibu Man,” (a tribute to Rick Rubin) and “Shine on Me.” Auerbach revealed the recording sessions resulted in about 60 songs total, and said the album as a whole will be “a history of everything I love about music.”

His debut solo album, Keep It Hid, arrived in 2009, while the debut album from The Arcs, Yours, Dreamily, came in September of 2015. The Black Keys’ most recent album was 2014’s Turn Blue.
