Celebrating the 10th anniversary of their 2008 album Midnight Boom — The Kills rock, rolled and served up a timeless appearance at Conan on Wednesday night (Oct. 3) while performing “Sour Cherry.”
Filled with heavyweight guitars and steady-on drums, the British-American duo (Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart) proved that they haven’t lost an inch of power, energy or drive with their forceful delivery.
The energetic performance featured a strong vocal attack by Mosshart, complemented by Hince’s mind-blowing, spiky punkabilly guitar riffs. “Made my blood thump Saturday night/ Make my heart beat double time/ Now I’m only sour cherry on the fruit stand, right?” Mosshart sang in her signature raspy, clipped voice.
Dancing and headbanging all over the stage, the 39-year-old singer delivered a powerhouse performance as she embodied a classic punk rock vibe, strapping on a guitar near song’s end to add some clipped, noisy strumming to the mix.
