“Between the well and the unknowing,” an ominous voice whispers, “Our story starts there. Into our future, yet far beyond our past.”
The guitar swells, announcing Coheed and Cambria’s return to the extended Amory Wars storyline that consumed their first seven albums. The quartet released “The Dark Sentencer” today (May 31), a dramatic 10-minute track that kicks off a new chapter in their epic sci-fi opera. After taking a break to craft The Color Before The Sun, the band’s sole LP that doesn’t delve further into their epic sci-fi opera, front man Claudio Sanchez told GRAMMY.com back in April that the group’s ninth album will redirect their focus back to the Amory Wars saga. “Doing The Color Before The Sun concept less has allowed me to think of new concepts and new ideas to take The Amory Wars further that I didn’t think about before.”
The band will set off on a U.S. co-headlining tour this July with Taking Back Sunday and special guests The Story So Far.
