Ahead of his upcoming third album, Irish singer-songwriter Ciaran Lavery unveils his first single “To Chicago,” premiering on Billboard today (Jan. 25).
The song is a beautifully wholesome homage to love in its purest and fullest form, with Lavery’s voice hitting its familiar endearingly androgynous sound throughout. Its acoustics are simple, making it a sweet and simple easy listening song, which seems to be part of Lavery’s intentions.
“In its purest form, this is a romantic song,” the singer-songwriter tells Billboard. “I wanted to write something unapologetically good, a message of love without conditions. I haven’t heard any recent songs about love that didn’t come without a trap door and I miss that the sentiment cannot exist just as it is.”
“To Chicago” is the first single off of his album Sweet Decay, which is set to drop on April 13. The singer has already developed critical acclaim in his own country, with his last album Let Bad In winning the 2016 Northern Ireland Music Prize. As for what’s to come, the future seems promising.
