Two weeks after guitarist Patrick O’Brien was arrested in Tampa, Fla. for allegedly breaking into a neighbors home and confronting a deputy with a knife, Cannibal Corpse says they support their bandmate and that upcoming their tour will go on as planned.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec. 20), the group wrote, “As a band and as individuals, we all want nothing but the best for our brother and partner, Pat. While we can offer no further information about the incident, we wanted everyone to know that Pat is getting the help he needs and appreciates the love and support from Cannibal Corpse fans around the world.”
Lead guitarist O’Brien, 53, was arrested on Dec. 10 after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office said he allegedly broke into a home, pushed a woman to the ground and ran toward a deputy with a knife before he was subdued with a stun gun; O’Brien’s nearby home was later found to be on fire. O’Brien was charged with aggravated assault and burglary.
The band said that Pat is currently with his family and friends and he “looks forward to a healthy return at some point.” In the meantime, CC will hit the road as planned, with a tour slated to kick off on Feb. 17 at the Alamo Music Hall in San Antonio, T.X. It is unclear at press time if O’Brien will be part of the tour.
