On June 15, Buddy Guy will release his highly anticipated new album The Blues Is Alive and Well (Silvertone/RCA Records). Produced by Grammy-winning producer/songwriter and longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge, the album features guest appearances by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, James Bay and Jeff Beck.
Now, Guy is sharing the second single from the LP, “Blue No More,” featuring Bay. On the soulful ballad, the two artists trade verses about saving the blues: “It’s deep in my soul/ It’s my whole life/ It’s everything I know/ It’s been my home and I bring it everywhere I go,” Guy sings.
In an exclusive video shared with Billboard, Bay discusses Guy’s influence on his music and what it was like working with the blues icon on the track.
“To get to work with such a living legend was a total honor…entirely surreal. I want to say thank you, Buddy, for everything you have done for us, thank you for inviting me on board. You’re the man,” said Bay.
The Blues Is Alive and Well follows Guy’s 2015 critically acclaimed album Born to Play Guitar, which debuted atop Billboard’s Top Blues Albums chart, marking Guy’s fifth No. 1 on the chart and 12th top 10. On May 23, The Americana Music Association announced that Guy will receive its Lifetime Achievement Award at a September 12 ceremony at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
