Bob Seger is ready to make some night moves again.
After postponing the Runaway Train tour with his Silver Bullet Band last fall after 13 shows due to spinal surgery in October, Seger has announced the first 13 rescheduled dates, with the remaining seven expected to follow soon. The first rescheduled show takes place Nov. 24 in Kansas City, with dates rolling into February.
Sources tell Billboard that Seger is feeling good and is fully recovered from the surgery — a cervical laminectomy to repair a ruptured disc. No new shows have been announced yet, but there are rumors word of “more to come” in the near future.
The resumed tour will promote Seger’s latest album, I Knew You When, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Current Rock Albums chart and No. 25 on the Billboard 200 after its Nov. 17 release. The album was dedicated to Seger’s late friend, Glenn Frey of the Eagles, who passed away during January of 2016.
During December Seger told Billboard that he hated having to shut down the tour, which had played 13 dates before the plug was pulled. “It was going so good, the tour was,” he lamented. “They were playing so great, the band. Oh my God, I hated to stop. I feel like we’ve got to do at least do these 20 (postponed concerts) that are outstanding. We have to honor that. We have 200,000 tickets out there and people have been great; They’ve held their tickets all this time, so that’s the first thing we’ve got to do.”
