New wave icons Blondie performed their new single, “Long Time” on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night (May 9). The Debbie Harry-fronted group’s new single, co-written with Blood Oranges‘ Dev Hynes, appears on their recently released 11th album, Pollinator. Harry was in fine form, her famously smoky, melodic vocals rising up above the song’s propulsive beat from drummer Clem Burke.
Blondie are preparing to hit the road with Garbage to promote the album, which includes collaborations with Joan Jett, Sia, Charli XCX, ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Nick Valensi of The Strokes, Laurie Anderson and TV on the Radio‘s Dave Sitek. Harry recently spoke with Billboard about the new LP, mentioning that all of the features were pretty organic.
“It wasn’t really a concept for the album, it just developed that way,” Harry said. “And we’ve always had a variety of songwriters in the band itself.”
