First, California knocked Drake out of the top spot on the Billboard 200. Then Blink-182 told us its comeback album would be re-released in expanded form, so much so that it would be “like a whole other album.” Now, thanks to Mark Hoppus’ Twitter account, the California deluxe edition has a release date.

Rock Sound points out that the Blink-182 bassist nonchalantly broke the news to an inquisitive Twitter user; per Hoppus, the new project is due May 19.

Speaking with Billboard in December, Blink-182 revealed some details on California 2.0. Some of the songs were written during the album’s original sessions; others were composed after California had been released. Hoppus described the new batch as “a lot of high-energy songs, punk rock, some more ballad-y songs, a little more electronic experimentation.”
“We got a problem,” Travis Barker apparently told producer/co-writer John Feldmann — “the deluxe album might even be better than California.” A track list and other details have not yet been issued, though the band has certainly been doing its part as de facto publicists.
California was up for best rock album at the 2017 Grammys, marking the first nomination in Blink’s history. They have tour dates lined up through mid-July in support.
