Psychedelic rockers The Black Angels are exclusively premiering the music video for “Currency,” from their fifth studio album Death Song, on Billboard below.
The hypnotizing track shares a cynical and twisted message, including the lyric “One day it’ll be all over,” tying everyone together during the heat of the current political climate.
The songs listed on the album track list were primarily composed during the start of the presidential election, and the idea of a $20 bill being passed on and on in the video seemed fitting.
“The concept came from a day in the life of a dollar bill,” explains Black Angels lead singer Alex Maas. “Our video artist Bob Mustachio came up with the idea. It was meant to follow a ‘cursed bill’ over the course of a day or so. Ari Guerrero and Dallas Cloud produced and co-directed with Bob.”
Along with some mind-numbing riffs, the video follows a blood-stained bill as it travels from one location to the next — including a crack den, a church, a gambling table and the White House.
