Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong has been teasing what appears to be a new side project called The Longshot. A series of videos he’s posted on Instagram feature a hazy black and white old school punk aesthetic with rats, scribbled out faces and a hand-scrawled band logo. A link to the band’s newly created profile says “New album Love is for Losers, coming eventually sooner or later. Probably sooner.” A spokesperson for Green Day could not be reached for comment at press time.
After 2016’s mind-blowing Revolution Radio, Green Day is now taking a break from music to work on a movie adaptation of their legendary album American Idiot. Last year, Armstrong said the project is well underway, with HBO fully behind it. “We’ve got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through ha couple of rewrites here and there, so I’m not sure when exactly we’re going to start shooting, but it’s definitely all systems go at the moment.”
If The Longshot is indeed an Armstrong side gig, it would join his other non-Green Day ventures, which also include Pinhead Gunpowder, Foxboro Hot Tubs and The Network.
