While the world was quarantined at home as the coronavirus rapidly spread in the spring, Billie Joe Armstrong kept fans entertained with weekly YouTube covers. Now, his No Fun Mondays series will be released into a 14-song collection on November 27 via Reprise/Warner Records, on vinyl, CD, and digital
In the run-up to No Fun Mondays’ official release, a different track from the album will be made available on streaming services every week. Throughout the pandemic, the Green Day frontman has taken on covers like Tommy James and the Shondells’ “I Think We’re Alone Now,” The Avengers’ “Corpus Christi,” John Lennon’s “Gimme Some Truth,” and the theme to Tom Hanks’ 1995 film That Thing You Do! in honor of the song’s writer, Adam Schlesinger, who passed away from COVID-19 complications in April.
No Fun Mondays is available for pre-order here. See the track list below.
The always-politically outspoken Armstrong also took to his Instagram Stories on Monday (Oct. 5) to share his thoughts on Donald Trump’s coronavirus battle (or lack thereof). “The president of the United States faked being sick!! He never had covid,” the rocker wrote alongside Trump’s tweet, crossed out in red. See his post here.
