
Beck, Fiona Apple, Jakob Dylan, Cat Power, Regina Spektor and others are joining forces for a one-off concert and studio album celebrating the 50th anniversary of Southern California’s iconic 1960s folk rock scene.
Rewinding the Charts: 50 Years Ago The Byrds Landed at No. 1
The Echo in the Canyon concert will be held at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre on Oct. 12 and will feature songs by the Byrds, Beach Boys, Love, Buffalo Springfield, the Mamas & the Papas and more. The event precedes a studio recording featuring these artists and others that will be released early next year.

The event marks the anniversary with the release of the Byrds’ debut album, Mr. Tambourine Man, on June 21, 1965.
To tease the collaboration, Cat Power and Jakob Dylan released a duet cover of the Turtles’ “You Showed Me,” which was written by the Byrds’ Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark.
