At the Drive-In is back. The prog-friendly punks have reunited for the second time in four years, and this time their plans include new music to go along with some extensive touring.

The quintet broke the news Thursday (Jan. 21) on its social media accounts. Word of a world tour and “new music” came first, accompanied with what could very well be a taste of what At the Drive-In has been up to in the studio.

Next, the band announced a European tour set to begin March 26 in Dublin:

Finally, At the Drive-In shared its North American itinerary. On March 23 — three days before the Dublin show — the group will play Hollywood’s Fonda Theatre, its first show since a 10-date run in 2012. And after returning from Europe, it’ll begin a string of U.S. dates at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival in early May. Check out all the stops below:

At the Drive-In’s last studio album was 2000’s pulverizing cult favorite Relationship of Command. The 2015 incarnation of At the Drive-In will include Cedric Bixler Zavala, Omar Rodríguez-López, Jim Ward, Tony Hajjar and Paul Hinojos. All of them contributed to Command; the dream team is back together.
According to a recent interview with Fuse, the band met up last year to kick the ol’ reunion tires. “Within hours, we were talking about older shows and memories, and new ideas,” Hajjar said. “It immediately felt organic.”

Personal differences caused At the Drive-In to splinter into numerous other projects — including the Mars Volta and Sparta — in the years following Command. Finally, a decade-and-a-half later, it appears its members are finally ready to reconcile.
As for that “new music,” no further details have been announced. Stay tuned.
