If you plan on being in New Orleans this weekend, Arcade Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band have put together a little soiree to honor David Bowie. And it’s definitely the sort of gathering Bowie would have wanted to send him off.
The organizers have put together a parade — “Pretty Things,” they’re calling it — and it will depart from Preservation Hall Saturday (Jan. 16) at 4 p.m. CST. From there, the parade will march around New Orleans, make a stop at the Mississippi River, and end at the French Quarter bar One Eyed Jacks.

And we certainly expect an interesting crowd. The Facebook event implores attendees to wear their “best Bowie outfit or something more strange.”
Earlier this week, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler issued a statement on Bowie. “I will take to the grave the moments we shared,” he said, “talking, playing music and collaborating as some of the most profound and memorable moments of my life.”
Bowie and Arcade Fire recorded a live EP together in 2005, featuring the former’s “Life on Mars?” and “Five Years” and the latter’s “Wake Up.” Watch them perform “Wake Up” above.
