Producer Zaytoven is the self-made MVP of the rap game with his new mixtape, Where Would The Game Be Without Me, premiering on Billboard. The DJ/producer’s melodic yet aggressive beats have made him a go-to beatsmith in Atlanta and beyond as rappers like Gucci Mane, Migos and Future have laced their projects with Zay’s production.
“This tape was inspired by me still having the passion to be relevant in this rap game,” Zay tells Billboard, noting the lengthy list of his mixtape collaborators: Migos, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, Future, Young Thug, Maceo. Peewee Longway. Jose Guapo, Lil Uzi Vert, Metro Boomin and DJ Esco.
The Oakland-bred, Atlanta-based beatsmith (real name Zavier Dobson) delivers his project days before Gucci’s first post-prison album release Everybody Looking, dropping July 22. Stream Zay’s 10-track set as a pre-game soundtrack for Guwop’s comeback LP below.
