After releasing his rump-shaking single “Pop It, Shake It”, YG and DJ Mustard brought their booty-ful video to life during this year’s Trinidad Carnival.
Directed by Director X, the West Coast tandem explore the streets of Trinidad to find the best booty shakers in the country. During their expedition, YG finds a handful of women willing to put their twerking abilities to the test. Things get messy when the island’s finest ladies get their bodies spray painted. Then, it becomes an absolute free-for-all. “I’m trying to keep up, but I don’t wanna crash though,” raps an energetic YG.
Before “Pop It, Shake It” was released in March, Mustard and YG patched up their rocky relationship. The duo rebounded from their issues and announced their collaborative project 400 Summers in August 2016.
Last September, Mustard explained to Billboard how he and YG reconciled their differences. “We’re just older now and we’re boys, we’re brothers, so it’s not like we wasn’t ever gonna be friends again,” said the superproducer. “We were just going through some bulls–t. We ended up sitting down and talking for like two hours straight, talking about what we wanted to do. At that moment, when I brought him out at Coachella, we didn’t work on any music. We was like, ‘We ain’t gonna work until it’s the right time. Let’s just get back to being homies and letting the families get around each other again. Then we’ll start working.'”
