Wyclef Jean has made a triumphant return to the music scene with “My Girl” featuring Sasha Mari, a delightful blend of Wyclef’s recognizable voice with newcomer Sasha Mari’s silky tone over a bright dancehall-inspired beat. “This song takes me back to my Caribbean Roots,” Wyclef says. “This is what a Carnival feels like.”
“My Girl” is Wyclef’s first single since “Divine Sorrow,” his 2014 collaboration with Avicii. Wyclef’s upcoming album, Carnival III, is slated for a release in the later half of this year.
In this Billboard exclusive video from Wyclef himself, he asks us all to “find our queen[s]” and get up to his new single. “When [‘My Girl’] plays, if you’re sitting down, you have a problem,” says Wyclef.
The music video for “My Girl” was filmed over a two day period at a Wyclef concert and in Flatbush, Brooklyn, near Wyclef’s childhood stomping grounds. Wyclef worked with director Eif Rivera to create an authentic storyline video, featuring adorable child doppelgangers and tight choreography.
