“[A reunion] ain’t never happening,” said Waka Flocka. “That Brick Squad was history. I enjoyed it, I loved it, it made me who I am today. It made him who he was today. But enough is enough, man. The Internet is not the streets.”
The Atlanta rapper then dished out some harsh words towards his former mentor by questioning his street cred. “Hey, since he been out, did he shoot a video in East Atlanta? All right. I’m exposing these folks. I ain’t no hater, I’m just exposing. Atlanta got real big dogs, real kings of the east. East Atlanta got real kings. It ain’t one person.”
Last December, Gucci Mane released his album The Return of East Atlanta Santa, and released several videos for album cuts including “Stutter,” “Last Time” featuring Travis Scott, and “St. Brick Intro.”
Waka Flocka Flame later revealed that his bond with Gucci was never rock solid, even before the latter went to prison. “Even before Gucci went to jail, we were never like super tight. Like me and Gucci probably haven’t been cool in four years. I haven’t been cool with Gucci since my best friend got killed, which was 2012.”
Earlier this week, Waka teased his forthcoming single, “Was My Dawg” on Instagram, prompting speculation that is was a Gucci Mane diss track. The cover art featured a silhouette of Gucci donning angel wings. According to Waka, the record will convey “the truth.” “The truth is the truth,” he explained. “Some stuff you gotta get off your chest or it’s gonna make you, like, an angry person.”
