
Billie Joe Armstrong took notice of Vince Staples‘ Green Day-inspired album art, and he approves. Staples released his third album FM! last week, and the album artwork bears a striking similarity to the artwork of Green Day’s breakout 1994 album, Dookie.
The FM! cover, which includes the album name rising out of the waves over a festive beach, is a riff on the word-explosion-over-partiers scene of the Dookie art. Both album covers appear to have been drawn with colored crayons.
The West Coast-centric FM! album features Tyga, Jay Rock, Earl Sweatshirt, E-40 and more.
