Just two days after being shot on Christmas Day (Dec. 25), Troy Ave returns with his new video “No Delay.” The festive visual finds the New York rapper in the Christmas spirit, as he raps in the comfort of his living room with a curvaceous woman by his side.
The video comes after Ave was shot twice in Brooklyn on Christmas night, according to his attorney, Scott E. Leemon. The rapper suffered injuries to his arm, back, and was grazed in the head.
In a statement obtained by Billboard, Leemon wrote. “Tonight, Troy Ave was targeted again… on Christmas. In Brooklyn, going to meet his family for the holiday, he was shot two times. Thankfully, he will survive the second attempt on his life. As we have said from the beginning — he is a victim. We pray for his speedy recovery.”
Rapper 50 Cent visited Troy Ave in Brookdale Hospital, where he’s currently in stable condition. “Dope boy Troy all good. Merry Christmas,” wrote 50 on his Instagram.
While recovering from his injuries, Ave sat down with Revolt TV and detailed the horrific event which nearly curtailed his life. “To be honest man I got a bullet still in my head and another one lodged in my back,” he said. “Words can’t describe how blessed I feel to be here. To all the fans, just ride with ya boy. Keep me in prayers and play my music loud.”
The incident comes months after Ave was involved in a backstage shooting at Irving Plaza for a concert that was headlined by T.I. (Tip did not get to perform that night), in which the rapper was later charged with attempted murder. He spent six weeks in jail before being released on a $500,000 bond. Three people were injured, including Ave. His bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, was killed.
