Trey Songz posted a series of tweets on Wednesday (Aug. 19) responding to recent allegations of sexual misconduct lodged by a woman who claims the singer initiated unwanted sexual contact with her.
“I usually stay quiet on this but I feel that in many ways the movement to fight for the women who actually have suffered harassment and abuse on various levels, has been hijacked by those who find it convenient for themselves to come up as they seek to destroy someone’s life,” Songz tweeted after the allegations emerged during a Monday episode of the No Jumper podcast.
The woman, identified as “Aliza,” claimed that a celebrity urinated on her during a sexual encounter without her consent and then wouldn’t allow her to leave the room. (The claim appears at the 7:25 mark of the show; warning, explicit content), in which the woman says, “I didn’t know what was happening, he just did it,” and then identifying Songz (born Tremaine Neverson) a the celebrity in question.
The woman said after they had consensual sex, Songz allegedly followed her into the bathroom and urinated on her and then, “he already got mad at me for like talking about it … But every b–ch I talk to about him says the same s–t. And he’s psycho like he took my phone and my purse away for like a whole day. Held them over the balcony and was like, ‘B–ch, if you try to leave, I’ll drop this s–t.'”
Songz appeared to respond to the allegations in the series of tweets, including a reportedly since-deleted one in which he responded to a previous Jane Doe allegation about an alleged sexual assault in Miami, which Uproxx said included a visible phone number.
“I brush it off everytime but once you have an allegation no matter it’s true weight in validation, it’s now happened once and to some will be believable from that moment forward. None of that happened,” he reportedly wrote in the deleted tweet.
“Y’all remember Jane Doe claimed I sexually assaulted her in Miami?” he wrote in another tweet, seemingly referring to an allegation from earlier this year in which an unnamed woman from Georgia accused Songz of sexual misconduct at a Miami nightclub in January 2018. “She wants me to pay for her therapy and the rest of her school cause of ‘all the trauma she’s been through.’ Pls read,” he wrote, along with screenshots of what appear to be text messages suggesting the alleged victim was trying to win a court settlement in the incident.
A spokesperson for Songz had no comment.
“You will choose 2believe what you want. I’ve been focusing my energy and time on good things and I know the Devil wants my soul more now than ever. Ima keep my head high and push forward,” he wrote. “If you holdin me down in these moments I preciate that.”
The host of the show, Adam22 (born Adam Grandmaison), had his No Jumper label dropped by Atlantic Records in Dec. 2018 following sexual assault allegations against him.
