Mac Miller’s passing continues to weigh on the hip-hop community. During the last several weeks, artists such as Drake and Childish Gambino spoke fondly of the 26-year-old MC during their respective concerts. This past weekend, Travis Scott paid tribute to Miller with an impromptu freestyle during his Las Vegas show.
“It’s the superstar boy, Malcolm that’s my boy/Mac Miller I love you, always be my boy,” sang Scott in a clip captured by fans and shared on social media. “From that 412, yeah/From that 41210, yeah/It’s that superstar boy, superstar boy/Mac Miller you the one, we love you fucking boy/That’s my mutherfuckin’ n—a/Mac mutherfuckin’ Miller,” he continued.
During Complex’s Open Late with Peter Rosenberg, Kendrick Lamar relayed his thoughts on Miller’s demise, saying that he was a “great musician, great writer. Just always had a smile on his face, and that’s something that I commend. No matter what he was going through, he didn’t make you feel sorry for him. He was strong about it.”
Miller passed away on Sept. 7 of a reported overdose.
