Following 2015’s Rap Albums chart-topper Rodeo and the release of his infectious Young Thug and Quavo collaboration “Pick Up The Phone,” Travis Scott is readying his second studio effort, Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight.
According to a clip posted on Twitter during his set at Brooklyn’s Ford Amphitheater in Coney Island on Tuesday, Scott will release Birds on Aug. 5.
“I want everybody to lock in a date right now in their brains,” he said before repeating the release date multiple times. “August 5th. August 5th. August 5th.” He also performed a new song, labeled as “Shit To Lose,” before his special announcement. The project is expected to arrive via Apple Music, according to his recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid.

Earlier this year, the rapper/producer shared the inspiration behind the project with Billboard. “My next album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, is basically about all my friends and growing up here [in Missouri City]. I’m not saying that it’s a trap — we not in the f—ing projects but it’s like a social trap,” he shared. “It’s a social connection trap from what you want to do and how you want to express yourself. I feel like everyone just gets constricted by their parents or just, life.”
In May, he also announced the title of the Birds follow-up at a show for Billboard and 1800 Tequila’s Back to the Block concert series. “The name of my new album after [my next project] Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight is now going to be called Astroworld,” he said.
Billboard has reached out to a rep for Scott for additional comment.
