Twenty-four hours after unveiling the release date for Astroworld, Travis Scott returned Tuesday (July 31) with the cover art for his elusive third album.
Created by David LaChapelle, the colorful cover displays kids enjoying the thrills of Scott’s otherworldly title amusement park. The Astroworld park entry — which is a golden figure that resembles Scott’s head — is similar to the massive replica that was found on the roof of Amoeba Records this past weekend in LA.
An employee of Amoeba told HipHopDX that the album was slated to drop this year and that the gold-colored head was being used as an awareness campaign by Scott’s label. “We just don’t know anything. Label person called us, they’re calling it an awareness campaign. There’s no information online or anything. It’s just a fun promo kind of thing,” said the employee.
On Monday, Scott confirmed the Friday release date of Astroworld on social media with a two-minute long album trailer.
