Trae Young became the face of the Atlanta Hawks immediately after they traded with the Dallas Mavericks on draft night for the rights to the former Oklahoma Sooner flamethrower. The 20-year-old recently passed the quarter point of the gauntlet known as the grueling NBA season.
Playing in the trap capital of America, the Rookie of the Year candidate has already thrust himself into the ATL music culture. Young stars in the latest episode of the Young Hollywood’s Rookie on the Rise series, where he touches on his soothing pregame playlist, a growing relationship with Quavo, and hopes that the Migos drop a song about him.
“I’m into slow jams pregame,” the sharpshooter admits. “Today, I was listening to Mario, Marques Houston, and Tank. I listen to all those type of guys. I’ll definitely throw some Drake and Migos in there.”
The Hawks point guard actually met Quavo at a concert back in Norman, Okla. on campus in 2016, making it ironic for Young to actually land back in Atlanta, where you’ll see Huncho courtside at the State Farm Arena on any given night. “[Quavo] really wanted me to come to Atlanta,” Trae explained of his friendship with the Migos frontman. “Now that I’m in Atlanta, he texts me all the time. Hopefully, I can get a song about me.”
