Toronto up-and-comer Tory Lanez — the rapper/singer behind the Brownstone-sampling hit “Say It” — took a spill on the balcony during a recent show in his hometown.

While Lanez was quick to shut down injury reports (he tweeted post-fall: “people … I landed on my feet .. Lol that shit do look crazy tho”), timelines were buzzing about his comments just before the incident took place. “No matter what, it’s always calculated,” Lanez can be heard saying in a video clip posted on Twitter.

The remarks were perceived as a response to Drake‘s “Summer Sixteen” line where the 6 God raps, “All you boys in the new Toronto wanna be me a little.” The Internet took the bar as diss against Lanez, whose mixtape is titled The New Toronto.
Lanez recently told Revolt that he had nothing but love for Drizzy. “If people really do believe that was a diss or whatever the case it is, I don’t know what that man has against me,” said Lanez. “I’m getting money over here. I’m good, I’m young, I’m finally in a position to feed my family — please don’t try to take that away from me. All I want to do is rap.”
He continued, “I’m a fucking Drake fan. Drake could diss me 20,000 times and I’d never diss him … I have no negativity on my side but all blessings to that man.”
A rep for Lanez did not immediately respond to Billboard‘s request for comment.
