Gashi made his TV debut on Tuesday night’s (Feb. 12) The Tonight Show with the help of collaborator G-Eazy for an energetic performance of their latest single “My Year.”
The Brooklyn-based rapper took center stage wearing his signature orange hat as a ski mask at first (later revealing his face) and a beige trench coat he discarded, with all black-clad G-Eazy as his hype man as they performed the feel-good track from Gashi’s latest LP, Stairs 2. It didn’t take long for the rappers to get into the upbeat rap tune, as they left the diamond-shaped platform to bounce along with The Tonight Show’s studio audience.
“I’m hot now, I could never flop now/ Finally gettin’ guap now, made it off the block now/ Do it for my hometown, made it with my own sound/ Every single city, you mention me, yeah, they know now,” Gashi rapped as he enthusiastically bounced through every inch of the set.
The amped-up performance finished off with bright flashing lights and confetti cascading throughout the set, with G-Eazy adding a shout out to the recently released 21 Savage at the end, “Free 21 Savage, it’s our year, every year till infinity.”
