Daveed Diggs stopped by The Tonight Show on Wednesday night (Feb. 20) to talk about his latest Broadway venture as well as perform a snippet of his unreleased song, “At This Point.”
Diggs, who rose to fame for his Grammy- and Tony-award winning role in Broadway’s Hamilton, told host Jimmy Fallon that he will appear in a new Broadway show called White Noise, written by his personal favorite playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks. “He sends me this play and I start reading it, I’m in between scenes and … by the time I got to the end of the play, I’m literally in my trailer pacing back and forth like, ‘oh my god!’,” Diggs said of his excitement upon receiving the play from the Public Theater artistic director, Oskar Eustis.
He also talked a bit about his TNT series with Jennifer Connelly, Snowpiercer, before Fallon asked, as usual, that Diggs drop a few rhymes. Known for his lightning-fast rapping style, Diggs said that he and Blindspotting creative partner Rafael Casal have been working on new music before he gave viewers a snippet of what he said is an upcoming single called “At This Point.”
“Them eyes is peeking back out from the mirror looking bloodshot/ Plus they carry baggage now they’re traveling and they don’t stop/ Rapping every venue from the White House to the dope spot/ Old enough to know all that experience don’t show I know a damn thing,” he rhymed in double-time on the first verse.
