The 808 Mafia is ready to close out another banner year with a bang. TM88 returns alongside Mafia brother Southside on Monday (Dec. 10) with a single that’s slated to appear on his anticipated untitled album in 2019. “Hmmm” puts Lil Yachty and Valee together for one of the more eclectic sounds and song titles of the entire year.
On the heels of joining KYLE for “Hey Julie,” Lil Boat delivers yet another fun verse over the 808 Mafia production. “I donate big racks where I grew up/ They know ain’t no secret, I blew up/ My bitch p—y smell like a tulip/ My oldest car still ain’t hit fifth grade/ It’s still kinda new, change the paint shade,” he raps.
“Hmmm” premiered over at Beats 1 as Zane Lowe’s World Record for Monday. TM88 stopped by to detail how the track came together. “Me and Southside was in LA working on my project, and Valee came through and he did a few songs or whatever. This was one of the songs. We were like, ‘Dang, I think I hear Yachty on this.’ So we sent it to Yachty, and Yachty killed it,” the Atlanta-bred producer explained.
TM88 went on to share that he had a joint project with PARTYNEXTDOOR that ended up being shelved and probably won’t see the light of day. “I got a joint project with PartyNextDoor. I don’t think it’s ever going to see the light of day,” he unveiled. “It would have been for everything because it was very melodic and trap at the same time. It was called Party at Eight.”
