TIP — the artist also known as T.I. — has returned to his trap music roots.
On Sept. 10, the Atlanta native dropped his surprise Da’ Nic EP as a prelude to his tenth album The Dime Trap — which he says is “dedicated to [his] day one fans.”

Featuring Young Thug and Young Dro, the five-track EP — named after the slang term for a nickel bag — is a sparse and shadowy glimpse back into the bleak Southern ghettos that originally birthed the style.
The Grand Hustle Records boss sat down with Billboard to discuss the significance of his name change and new projects.
“I wanted to speak for people who couldn’t necessarily speak for themselves, who lived in undeserved areas of society and knew something’s going on but didn’t know how to articulate it,” he says. “Trap music is the perfect instrument for me to do so.”
