T.I., Fetty Wap, Rich Homie Quan, Dej Loaf, Kid Ink, Young Dro, DJ Mustard and DJ Premier are the first performers confirmed for the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards. Returning as host for the third consecutive time is Snoop Dogg, aka Uncle Snoop.
Also announced as this year’s “I Am Hip Hop” Award honoree: legendary rapper Scarface. The Houston native first came to prominence with the Geto Boys on the 1991 top 10 hit “Mind Playing Tricks on Me.” Scarface has since released 12 solo albums, including chart-toppers The World is Yours, The Untouchable and My Homies. Deeply Rooted, which was released on Sept. 4, debuted and peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 — his highest charting album since 2002’s The Fix reached No. 4.

Deeply Rooted also launched at No. 2 on the Rap Albums chart. Scarface, whose Diary of a Madman memoir was published earlier this year, joins such previous “I Am Hip Hop” honorees as Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte and LL Cool J.
Drake heads the BET Hip Hop Awards nominations tally with 12 nods. Close behind is Big Sean (10 nominations), followed by Nicki Minaj (nine) and Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole (eight apiece).
The awards show will be taped at Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta on Oct. 9 and premiere on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
