T.I. has inked a fresh partnership with Epic Records, where his Grand Hustle empire will live for the foreseeable future. To celebrate the signing day announcement, Tip has unleashed a pair of singles on Friday (Sept. 7) in the Meek Mill-assisted “Jefe” and “Wraith” featuring Yo Gotti.
The trap pioneer reconnects with the Philly-bred MC over the horn-tinged production courtesy of Bangladesh. The 37-year-old takes aim at rappers who grace the mic with a brash presence but don’t want any sort of smoke in person. “So disappointed when n—-s talk shit on their records, when you see ’em, don’t do anything/ Okay, killing these n—-s with more than before/ Been stuntin’ and shining since back in the nineties,” T.I. raps on “Jefe.”
“Wraith” finds the legendary Scott Storch behind the boards and enlists Memphis’ own Yo Gotti alongside Tip on the tune. “I don’t like ’em, feel that way about ’em/ Lotta rappers, I don’t talk about ’em/ OD niggas ain’t gon’ bust a grave, man, they just talking loud/ Got body, got a problem, go to war about it,” the Grand Hustle CEO rhymes.
Additionally, T.I. formally announces his highly anticipated tenth studio album, Dime Trap, which is expected to release at the end of the year. After leaving Columbia Records back in 2014, the “Live Your Life” rapper previously signed a joint distribution deal with Roc Nation in 2016. Dime Trap marks his first album release since 2014.
