The Weeknd got creative with his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Thursday night (Dec. 5), as he remained backstage for nearly the entirety of his “Heartless” performance.
Rocking the same look from his “Heartless” visual, which includes a red blazer, mustache and sunglasses, Abel stumbled around the Ed Sullivan Theater with a drink in his hand before grabbing the mic from a production crew member. He remained underground with lights flickering and changing colors throughout his performance, but shows face right at the end to take in the crowd’s applause.
The Weeknd will return to The Late Show once again on Friday night (Dec. 6), where we assume he’ll be performing his latest single, “Blinding Lights,” which received the lyric video treatment last night. The 29-year-old also makes his acting debut alongside Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems next week (Dec. 13).
