During a busy week of releases from R&B/Hip-Hop veterans and trending newcomers, Maybach Music’s Stalley debuts “Swangin,” the first single off his upcoming major-label debut. Featuring legendary Houston rapper Scarface, the soulful, screw-filled cut borrows its beat and chorus from a 2008 song by the same name, performed by Huntsville, AL’s now-defunct G-Side. With his elaborate word-play, however, Stalley definitely makes the song his own.
Tank, no stranger to the Billboard charts, lets his latest single titled “Shots Fired,” featuring Chris Brown, loose. The League of Starz-produced track is a departure from his more traditional R&B sound but fits right in with the current crop of hard-hitting R&B singles led by Rihanna’s “Pour It Up.” Tank’s last trip to the top 10 of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs was in 2007 when his hit “Please Don’t Go” reached the No. 2 position. Could “Shots Fired” get him back to the top?
