Members of the hip-hop community gathered in the streets of Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 27) to protest against the recent police killings of unarmed black men.
Los Angeles natives The Game, Tyga and DJ Mustard were among the music stars who participated in the “Millions March Protest,” which took place in the Fairfax area of L.A. Estimates of the crowds ranged from a few hundred to several thousand, according to the Los Angeles Times. No arrests were made during the peaceful demonstration.
The Game, who recently shared his controversial thoughts online following the killing of two NYPD officers, was among some in the crowd wearing T-shirts that read “Are ((WE)) Next?” Others shirts said “I Can’t Breathe,” a reference to the words of Eric Garner before he died from a police chokehold.
The Game posted many Instagram photos and videos documenting the event, which saw protestors chanting “I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe!” Tyga also shared images and videos from protest through Instagram, one of which saw the crowd telling “We do this for Mike Brown.” Snoop Dogg, meanwhile, helped promote the demonstration on Instagram.
