The Harlem group comprised of Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and Freaky Zekey is back for a Diplomatic reunion.
In late November, the Dipset crew announced their reunion and plans for a new album on MTV’s TRL. Feuds between members of the group caused distance and halted any future projects, but their 20-year history has finally brought the brothers back together to make the true music of the hustlers.
“Brothers fight, brothers do a lot of things,” Juelz said at the time. “But at the end of the day, we remain brothers, come back and you know.”
Their first single, “Once Upon a Time,” is a reminder of who the Diplomats are, even using their go-to producer The Heatmakerz. The new video for the single intros with a choir singing “Oh happy Day” in church robes and Cam’ron’s infamous pink bandana. Jim Jones kicks off the song spitting bars about meetings with JAY-Z, signing with Roc Nation and living it up in New York City.
Cam’ron takes a different approach, tackling issues in entertainment such as Dame Dash slapping Harvey Weinstein.
Their debut album, Diplomatic Immunity, was released in spring 2003 and featured hits like “I’m Ready,” “I Really Mean It” and the song that made them one of the hottest rap groups in the music industry “Dipset Anthem.”
