On “Beef,” the combination of Grizzley and Meek is a lethal one, as both MCs gnaw down the trap-laden track with unceasing aggression. “If I wanted a n—a gone, he a dead man/Say my name on his song, he a dead man/Tryna hide behind your n—as, that’s your man’s ass/I leave his whole body bloody, call him Redman,” Grizzley lashes out.
In hopes of matching Grizzley’s intensity, Meek morphs into a tornado of fury on his verse. “Yeah, n—a diss me in these raps, how we gon’ go about it/ When we whack ’em, shit Obama prolly gon’ know about it/ Load the chopper, crack the window when we rollin’ by/ Fuck a drive-by, run ’em down so we know we got ’em,” spits Meek.
Last week, JAY-Z rhapsodized about Grizzley’s abilities during the part two of his Rap Radar interview. “I believe him. I hear his music and I’m like, ‘Man, that guy. I believe his story.’ I think that’s an element of creating [where] people don’t realize how difficult that is,” said Hov.
Grizzley responded to Hov’s praise and reposted that portion of the interview on his Instagram with the caption reading, “I ain’t kicked it wit you yet, but you show me a lot of love and I appreciate it. It’s an honor to be apart of any conversation you’re involved with. Hopefully I can mimic your accomplishments. #Hov.”
