Last year, Tee Grizzley released his debut mixtape My Moment, which he penned while behind bars. The set, featuring the explosive “First Day Out” smash hit, has been building up anticipation for his forthcoming debut album ever since.
On Tuesday (April 17), the Detroit native answered fans’ prayers by announcing the release date for his long-awaited official debut album, Activated — as well as the star-studded guest features who will be joining him.
Grizzley stopped by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show to discuss his album, and confirmed that his Cold Summer Tour partner Jeezy is one of the guests on his album. “It’s like Jeezy’s passing me the torch. It’s a dream come true,” he told Lowe — adding that while the industry in Detroit isn’t the most authentic, “Jeezy definitely is real,” and it was an “honor” to collaborate with a rap vet who inspired so many people in Detroit.
Other guests featured on the album include Rae Sremmurd, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Lil Yachty, YFN Lucci, Chris Brown, and more. On the production side, Grizzley tapped “First Day Out” producer Helluva, London on da Track, and Chopsquad DJ.
Ahead of the album’s release, Grizzley dropped “Don’t Even Trip,” featuring Moneybagg Yo, who is also featured on Activated.
