Back on Mother’s Day, SZA teased a visual for her Ctrl standout cut “Garden (Say It Like Dat).” Days later (May 18), the New Jersey native unleashes the video in full with some special guest cameos. Donald Glover stars as SZA’s love-interest in the clip that jumps around to various picturesque settings.
The film finds rising star Karena Evans behind the lens for the visual. She previously directed Drake‘s prolific “God’s Plan” and “Nice for What” videos earlier in 2018.
“Garden” opens with SZA making her way through a cave to the oceanside, before pivoting to a mythical rainforest. Glover shares multiple intimate scenes with the 27-year-old songstress, returning the favor for the Ctrl artist’s brief assist in Gambino’s historic “This Is America” video, which currently sits at No. 1 in the country.
The TDE artist’s mother, Audrey Rowe, also makes an appearance in a shot alongside her daughter to close out the clip with a fervent moment. Rowe also can be heard sharing a few words throughout the video’s credits.
SZA is currently on the road as part of a loaded Top Dawg Entertainment’s Championship Tour. The trek is powered by the best the label has to offer including Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, SiR, and Lance Skiiiwalker.
