It’s clear there’s a strong familial bond between SZA and her family, as evidenced by the singer’s recent album CTRL and the wisdom her mother and grandmother imparted to her throughout the 14-track effort. But SZA’s father is just as proud of his daughter, and according to a recent video posted on Twitter, his daughter’s album even brings him to tears.
One of SZA’s devotees shared a video clip of SZA’s father, Abdul Mubarak-Rowe, singing along to “Broken Clocks” from his car, decked out in a white “CTRL The Tour” baseball cap. “Every time I hear this song sweetie, I’m in tears,” he said. “I love this song by you — I love your whole album but this is one of my favorite songs.”
As the tweet circulated, SZA responded to the video by thanking her father. “Really love u daddy. Thank u for loving ME! Forever my favorite warrior.”
Back in January, SZA also invited her mother and grandmother to be her dates for the Grammy ceremony, where she was up for five awards. Unfortunately, the best new artist nominee didn’t walk away with any awards this time.
