Summer Walker was admittedly nervous going into her debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night (Dec. 9), but she faced her fears to deliver a moody performance of “Playing Games,” a standout off her 2019 Over It debut album.
Rocking a navy blue blazer, the wide-eyed Walker graced the stage with a smooth live band at her back. She did stay pretty much motionless at the mic for the performance’s entirety, which interpolates Destiny’s Child 1999 classic “Say My Name” throughout the intoxicating chorus.
The 23-year-old’s North American tour has been riddled with controversy. She faced more backlash from fans over a dispute with promoters at a New Jersey nightclub Friday (Dec. 6), where attendees expected her to perform, but the “Girls Need Love” singer believed the deal was more of a “walkthrough” appearance.
“Aye look, ya’ll gotta stop letting these promoters finesse y’all. I DO NOT, I REPEAT, I DO NOT sing on couches,” she responded in an IG post.
