It seems as though Issa Rae and her HBO series Insecure are fans of Janelle Monáe‘s Wondaland Records collective. Jidenna recently made his acting debut on the comedy series, and the funk-soul duo St. Beauty’s newest single “Borders” is featured on an upcoming episode airing Nov. 6 and released the full track Thursday (Nov. 3).
“Borders” begins with haunting orchestral-like croons as St. Beauty’s mellifluous vocals flow atop the airy production. The duo consists of Alex Belle and Isis Valentino, who hail from Atlanta, with the city’s gritty influence sprinkled throughout the track.
St. Beauty recently performed at Afropunk Atlanta and were featured on the 2015 Wondaland Records compilation Wondaland Presents.
