After dropping numerous teases over the past few days, Solange released her new album on Friday (March 1).
Titled When I Get Home, the sweeping, ambitious new LP features 19 tracks, including “Down With the Clique,” “Dreams” and “My Skin My Logo,” as well as five separate interludes and an intermission track called “We Deal With the Freak’n (Intermission).” According to album credits, additional vocals are provided by Tyler, the Creator (“Time (is),” “Down With the Clique”), Cassie (“Way to the Show”) and The-Dream (“Binz”) and a guest verse from Playboi Carti (“Almeda”).
The new album is Solange’s follow-up to 2016’s critically acclaimed A Seat at the Table, which earned her a Grammy Award for best R&B performance in 2017. She first addressed the album’s creation in a profile in T Magazine (the style tome of The New York Times) last fall, saying the project would be released at “some mysterious and unexpected moment.”
