Snoop Dogg is one of the coolest cats ever to emerge in the hip-hop world, and the legendary rapper proved that fact with his lively performance at the 2018 BET Awards.
The rapper, who fittingly closed out the show, began his set with an early ’90s classic — “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?)” The iconic single, which appears on Snoop’s 1993 debut album Doggystyle, was the perfect opener, as the LP celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. He kept the crowd on their feet by delivering yet another all-time party favorite, 2000’s “The Next Episode.”
After getting his gangsta on, Snoop decided to switch things up by bringing the BET Awards audience to church. The rapper performed two songs from his sixteenth album Bible of Love (released on March 16). Sly Pyper joined Snoop for a joyful rendition of “Sunrise,” while gospel star Tye Tribbett took the stage for his “You” collaboration with the rapper. The performance was backed by the soulful voices of a gospel choir. It was hard for everyone to not get on their feet as Snoop transformed into the dopest pastor around.
Snoop Dogg continues to stay busy in the music world, recently appearing on the Gorillaz’s new song “Hollywood” from the band’s upcoming album The Now Now, which arrives June 29. The rapper also shattered a Guinness World Record — in typical Snoop fashion, of course. During the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival in May, he created the largest-ever glass of gin and juice.
