Clocking in over two decades in the rap game, Snoop Dogg has seen it all and done it all. Snoop has built his legacy from the ground up, from his spot on the front lines of the G-Funk movement to his spiritual awakening and rebirth as Snoop Lion. For his latest trick, the veteran rapper returns with his fifteenth studio album Neva Left (via Doggystyle Records), an ode to his long-standing career. The reboot dropped early Friday morning (May 19) and it’s backed by a hefty list of supporting features.
“What I wanted to do on this record — and it was a spontaneous move — was to make a record to engulf every phase of Snoop Dogg that you’ve heard over the last 25 years,” Snoop told the audience at a recent album listening party. “I just felt like I wanted to put out some music to represent the generation of hip-hop that I come from, just to let people know that I’m still here and I still do what I do.”
Production credits on Neva Left include Mike and Keys, BADBUTNOTGOOD, Rick Rock and KAYTRANADA. The 16-track effort brings old school and new school together with appearances from K. Camp, Wiz Khalifa, KRS-One, Too $hort, Charlie Wilson, Redman, Method and many more.
Snoop Dogg will also join forces with Linkin Park on the road for the band’s One More Light tour as an opener for the upcoming October performances.
