Smoke DZA is set to release his sixth studio album, Not For Sale, tomorrow (April 20), but Billboard is giving fans a taste of the gritty 12-track project one day early. The Kush God’s latest effort comes on the heels of his WWE-themed EP, Ringside 6, which he shared earlier this month in honor of Wrestlemania 34.
Not For Sale serves as the Harlem native’s first LP since 2016 and is loaded with features including Joey Bada$$, Ty Dolla $ign, D.R.A.M., Dom Kennedy, Cozz, Vado, Velous, and more. Production on the album is handled by the likes of Cardo, Levy Grey, and Girl Talk.
The 34-year-old dropped three singles ahead of the album’s release, setting the stage for Not For Sale with “The Mood,” which saw an assist from Pro Era’s “Devastated” rapper; “The Hookup” with cameos from Dom Kennedy and Dreamville’s Cozz; and most recently (April 12) connecting with the crooning Ty Dolla $ign on “The Love.”
“[When] creating this album Not For Sale, I wanted to not be stubborn but at the same time not compromise my sound,” Smoke DZA told Billboard regarding his creative process. “Not for Sale is not selling out and compromising on what’s true to you. My inspiration comes from classic golden era rap and R&B, so I wanted to give my fans the sound that inspired me.”
