Smoke DZA has a few things to get off his chest. The rapper took to Twitter today (Jan. 16) to speak on the inspiration behind his upcoming album, “Dream.ZONE.Achieve” (April 1) and his growth and independence in both his personal and professional lives.
As I began to record this album I looked into myself to find that place that they found as they crafted Reasonable Doubt and Ready to Die.

I want to create that experience for another young kid, writing my lyrics down as they listen to this album.

In support of his declaration, DZA is debuting his new “Dream.ZONE.Achieve” single, “Black Independence,” exclusively here on The Juice. The triumphant 183rd produced-song features poet, J. Ivy. Check it out below:
“Independent as fuck, I own me/ Publishing, merchandise, show money/ If I don’t kill my food I won’t eat/ You see all my moves, that’s all me,” he raps, “Controlling my own destiny/ Knowing the value of my equity/ You got hold your turf/ They’ll try to give you what they want/ Ni–a, know your worth.”
“Dream.ZONE.Achieve” follows up his 2012 album, “Rugby Thompson,” entirely produced by Harry Fraud.
DZA continued his Twitter rant to say that he “feels a way” when left out of deserving discussions and lists, considering his hustle.
So when I don’t hear my name mentioned in a conversation or a on a list that I’ve rightfully put in the work for, I’m going to feel a way.

When I read or hear opinions of why or where I’m currently at in my life & career, I’m going to feel a way.

He reassured fans he’ll continue to create on his own terms, despite the obstacles of an independent artist: “This year is my year to be completely independent, through and through. To take ownership of my creations and destiny. To do it the way I want to do it. ” Smoke DZA closes his e-speech by telling fans to “keep one lit and listen closely as you dream, zone, achieve.”
