Heavily influenced by artists such as Kid Cudi and Kanye West, Mars (born Myles Mills) has emerged as one of hip-hop’s freshest new voices and has pushed the boundaries of East Coast rap with his distinct perspective and characteristic, melodic flow. Mars landed on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart five times in 2015 with several tracks off of his acclaimed debut EP The Red Balloon, which debuted at no. 35 on the Billboard 200 album chart. He followed with his debut full-length album Alone Together in April 2016, which debuted at no. 50 on the a Billboard 200.

Billboard and W Hotels kicked off the Next Up program in May with a showcase by alt-R&B newcomer Gallant in Los Angeles, and followed in July with a performance by pop hit-maker Bebe Rexha at the W Seattle. ‘Next Up’ will focus on four musicians that have impacted the Emerging Artist Chart, which monitors the most shared songs on Twitter in the U.S. by up-and-coming artists.
Mars will also be featured at Billboard’s second annual Hot 100 Festival on August 20, performing on the Beach Stage, presented by W Hotels.
